Dr McMurray is a Specialist General Surgeon with qualifications in Breast and Endocrine Surgery.
He graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2009, relocating to Queensland in 2011.
He worked on the Gold Coast for several years subsequently moving to Perth for surgical training. Formal qualifications in General Surgery were completed in Western Australia, attaining Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in 2021.
Dr McMurray is highly specialised in Breast Surgery and was formally trained through the BreastSurgANZ accredited Fellowship program.
He spent 2 years appointed to well-renowned Breast Units; the Mater Hospital, South Brisbane and the Royal Adelaide Hospital in South Australia. Through this comprehensive program he acquired significant skill and experience in oncoplastics, breast reconstruction and Endocrine Surgery.
Fundamental to his practice is offering a caring and patient-centred consultation. He includes a range of oncoplastic and reconstructive techniques to optimise the aesthetic outcomes of breast cancer surgery.
He is committed to teaching and holds the title of Lecturer at the University of Queensland. He is a former Trainee Representative to the Australian Board in General Surgery and maintains an interest in surgical education.
Dr McMurray is a high-volume Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon. Central to his practice is the management of patients diagnosed with breast cancer.
His surgical approach is individualised to the patient, optimising both the oncological and aesthetic outcomes from surgery. More complex breast reconstructions would be arranged in conjunction with a Specialist Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon.
He regularly treats women with benign breast disorders, including benign lumps, enlarged breasts and breast implant disorders.
